Generation VI Pokémon Collection

The most recent installment of games for the Pokémon franchise until Sun and Moon arrive to kick off Generation VII. Generation VI now ranks as my least favorite in the series, taking the place of Generation III, due to gameplay and story being a factor in me finding them bland, unlike the fear of a reboot being the only thing to make me resent Ruby and Sapphire. Oh, and the irony of Ruby and Sapphire remakes being a part of Generation VI cannot be ignored, though I did like those games more than X and Y, but I digress.

X and Y were okay as games. Like Generation III, I do not hate them or even dislike them. I liked the concept of Mega Evolutions, EV training was made a lot easier, the Fairy-type was a welcomed addition to counter all those overpowered Dragon-types, it had a passable plot, the transition to 3D was almost flawless, I loved the many references to the French language and France itself, and these games introduced a Pokémon who I now consider to be my third favorite of all-time! X and Y are pretty much my definition of the good, the bad, and the ugly for what they had to offer.

I could have done without the
obvious pandering to the older fans in the form of Kalos being Kanto 2.0 and the insultingly pretentious plot. That Mega Evolution concept that I liked became such a huge part of the plot that I got sick of it. Fast. The music was very forgettable; there were only two pieces that stick out to me but it wasn't anything amazing like in past generations. I didn't care for any of the characters as I found none of them charming and I cannot tell you who any of the rivals were since I always forget their names. I also found the games to be too easy without offering anything particularly challenging, but other than that, the games were adequate. They're my least favorite, but again, I don't dislike them. Then again, I really don't dislike any main title Pokémon game.

Despite my criticisms, these Pokémon I absolutely adore and it was a pleasure using them in-game!

#667 Litleo and #668 Pyroar

Picture
Japanese names: シシコ (Shishiko), カエンジシ (Kaenjishi)
Fire lions! As much as I love the Luxray line, I love this line even more! It's not only the fact that Fire is my favorite type, but they also made the female Pyroar look like an actual lioness with some really cool hair! Female Luxrays had such a minor gender difference that I sometimes had to squint my eyes just to see if the mane was smaller. Female Pyroar has the honor of being my third favorite Pokémon of all time, so I will be getting everything she has (assuming The Pokémon Company will make my dreams come true). Litleo and the male Pyroar will be getting a lot of attention, as well!

Plush

Picture
Litleo Pokédoll

This plush is a dream come true! For the first time, there is a
Pokémon I absolutely adore who got a Pokédoll made of them that is not a starter and is part of a later generation!

I will admit that the
Pokédolls of this generation are not that good looking. A good majority of them look more like Pokémon Center plushes than Pokédolls, and that makes me very sad. The silver lining in all of this is that Litleo actually LOOKS like a Pokédoll! The big eyes and deformed body are essential to the Pokédoll style, otherwise you just have a normal plush.

A Litleo
Pokédoll wouldn't be complete without the tag! Look at that artwork! Very charming!

Picture
Litleo Pokémon Center Plush

Oh yeah! Litleo's first plush! Her fur is very soft and the details are to die for (sorry, I had to make a reference to The Lion King)! I love her cute, little paws! A very beautiful plush! The hang tag is different from previous Pokémon Center plushes, but it is nothing terrible. I actually like it!

Picture
Litleo My Pokémon Collection Plush

MPCs are back, and now the Pokémon of Generation VI are having their moment in the limelight!

Litleo looks as cute as ever, and of course, the paw pads are included! You can't have fire lion merch without those paw pads!

Picture
Litleo American Tomy Plush

A Christmas present from syminka! I remember complaining to her that my local Barnes and Noble had these plushes but they ruined the tags by placing a price tag over them. I hate it when a store does that to their tags! She was so kind to get me this, Pancham, and Bunnelby mint with their tags! Yay!

I love the way she looks! She's one of my favorite plushes. She may not be minky soft, but hey, she looks good, and to me, that matters more!

Figures

Picture
Female Pyroar and Litleo Zukan

I am on cloud 9 with this Zukan! Unlike the Mega Charizard X Zukan that came from the same set, this one actually looks like they put effort into it! The paint job is fantastic, the poses are beautiful, the little details are amazing (paws!)... I am just wondering why they put so much effort into this Zukan but not the Charizard one? Ahh, who cares! Well, I sort of care because I collect Charizard, too, but I am very happy they didn't flake out on making this figure!

Now to get a male Pyroar Zukan... though to be honest, I am not on the edge of my seat waiting for one. If he gets one, great! I'll get him in a heartbeat! If he doesn't, I am more than happy just to have the female here. Look at her! So pretty!

Picture
Litleo Pokémon Center Ear Jack Strap

Litleo getting a Pokémon Center ear jack strap! Am I happy? You bet I am!

From the second round of released straps! I hope all Pokémon get strap figures made (especially the rest of my faves), but that would probably be unrealistic. I can still reach for the stars.

Picture
Litleo Tomy Figure

I have been waiting for this ever since I first found out about Litleo's existance! Tomy figures are a must have for every Pokémon collector! The details are perfect! I was hoping they would get her paw pads on her little feet, and guess what? They did not fail me! I absolutely love this figure and I am thinking of getting another one just to display mint in package! Yup! That is how much I love this figure!

Picture
Female Pyroar Tomy Figure and Great Ball

As I live in breath, yes! My baby had a Tomy figure made of her! Not only that, she also came with a Great Ball! She was slightly more expensive because of that, but who cares!

The details are amazing! I found no flaws! The paint job is perfect and the pose is perfect! Easily one of my favorite figures in my collection!

Picture
Male Pyroar Tomy Figure

A queen shouldn't be without her king! This bad boy gives off a real masculine vibe and demands respect! Like his female counterpart, he is perfect, and I am so happy Tomy took the time to give the Fire Lions the attention to detail they deserve!

Unlike the female Pyroar, this guy is a stand alone figure and does not come with any extra accessories.

Picture
Litleo Kid

Litleo's very first Kid figure! What an adorable little lion cub!

Picture
Litleo Attack Kid

Look at her trying to be fierce! She's just like Pancham in that she tries to pull of the intimidating look but she just ends up looking cute in the process. You tried, hon.

Picture
Male Pyroar Kid

I guess it's only fair that since female Pyroar got a Zukan figure made, the male Pyroar gets a Kid figure made.

I kind of wish the male got a Zukan figure, too, along with the female getting a Kid figure. I mean, they did it for something with major differences like Unfezant. Why couldn't they do it for the fire lions, too?

Gen VI not only sucked as lackluster games, but they sucked when it came to giving cool toys to cool Pokémon, too.

Picture
Litleo Gashapon Strap

Litleo gets a strap made of her, too!

Picture
Yellow Litleo Eraser

These erasers are so well made! It amazes me!

Stationery

Picture
Litleo Pokémon Center Clearfile

You know I had to get this. Featuring that wonderful Pokémon Center artwork and a nice, fiery orange to compliment her.

It seems that all Generation VI Pokémon got their own clearfile, but that is not too much of a stretch. There are fewer than 70 brand new Pokémon that is not related to anything from previous generations, so there you go.

Picture
Female Pyroar Pokémon Center Clearfile

You see this here?
That's the female Pyroar Pokémon Center/Dream World artwork! How come that image is not on Bulbagarden? I Don't know. I would love to find a full sized image of her PC artwork because to be perfectly honest, I would rather use that artwork on this site than the Sugimori pictures, but whatever!

Like Litleo, you know I had to get this.

Picture
Male Pyroar Pokémon Center Clearfile

If I say "you know I had to get this" again, will you believe me? I am going to assume that you would.

Other Items

Picture
Litleo and Pyroar Pokémon Center Charms

Lion charms!! I was looking forward to this day, and it happened! A big "yes!" moment, indeed!

Also, like Diggersby, this would be considered a two-for-one considering that this is my first merch of the Pyroar forms!

Picture
Litleo Pokémon Center Charm

This is the very first Litleo item I have bought and my first piece of fire lion merch overall! I love the Pokémon Center design!

Picture
Litleo Bronze Coin

The Pokémon coins are back! Will we be seeing metal figures in this generation, as well? One can only hope!

Litleo is featured on this bronze-colored coin. Really nice!

#672 Skiddo and #673 Gogoat

Picture
Japanese names: メェークル (Meecle), ゴーゴート (Gogoat)
Wood goats! Here's a funny story on how I got into the wood goat craze! I remember stumbling onto a website that was talking about the Chinese zodiac and that 2015 was going to be the year of the wood goat. The term "wood goat" immediately brought up images of Skiddo and Gogoat! While I know little to nothing about the Chinese zodiac (except my own sign), Skiddo and Gogoat stayed in my mind and I was really resisting the urge to collect them. I lost the fight against that urge and I am on my way to expanding my collection of wood goats! I probably would have collected them at one point in the future as I love goats, but the Chinese zodiac just brought that urge even sooner.

Fortunately and unfortunately, they don't have a lot of items out there. Because of that, I would love to have everything they have to their names.

Figures

Picture
Gogoat Tomy Figure

Tomy proved how amazing they still are by creating this loveable fluff of grass! The details are amazing!

Picture
Gogoat Battle Action Tomy Figure

This figure is just awesome! I cannot describe him as well as this figure deserves. He's big and well-detailed! I wouldn't expect any less for the wood goat in the year of the wood goat (I got this figure in 2015).

#674 Pancham and #675 Pangoro

Picture
Japanese names: ヤンチャム (Yancham), ゴロンダ (Goronda)
Fighting pandas!! When I first saw these guys, I knew immediately that I wanted to collect them! Other than Pignite and Emboar, I was never really a fan of Fighting-types in general. Probably because they look way too human-like for my liking. That was before I saw Pancham! He's the first pure Fighting-type that I absolutely adore! Pangoro is a dual Dark/Fighting-type, and I am so okay with that! Psychic-types cannot lay a finger on him, and using him in-game in X was a lot of fun! Then imagine my total surprise to see who designed Pangoro! Yes! Hitoshi Ariga! I love that guy! He designed a good portion of the best looking Pokémon for Generation VI! I hope he designs more Pokémon in the future!

pLUSH

Picture
Pancham Pokémon Center Plush

Pancham's first plush! Very soft and detailed! I wouldn't expect anything less from the Pokémon Center's first batch of plush!

Picture
Pancham Large Size UFO Plush

Oh, boy! This big guy! He was part of the lot that included the I <3 Eevee laying down plush. He is big! I had to rearrange my plushes just to accommodate his massive size!

As expected with Banpresto plushes, he is well made. The material is not really all that soft, but for some reason it's not that bad. Probably because I see him more as a display piece than something to cuddle with, but regardless, he is still really cute. Too bad he cannot pull of that intimidating look. He just cannot do it, what with his adorable looks. You tried, sweety.

Picture
Pancham My Pokémon Collection Plush

Pancham makes his debut as part of the MPC line! Unfortunately, I am seeing a trend when it comes to his plushes: almost all of them have the same pose. I wish they would spice things up a bit.

This one I can give a pass to. He is soft and super cute!

Picture
Pancham American Tomy Plush

While he's not as good looking as his Litleo Tomy plush sister, he's still a nice addition to the panda clan! He does suffer from an unfortunate case of same pose-itis. The only thing different about him is that he's looking up to his left.

fIGURES

Picture
Pancham and Pangoro Zukan Figure

This is a nice Zukan set,  but I do have a couple of problems with it.

1.) Pangoro's pose. That is the same pose his Tomy figure had and it shows that they really didn't put a lot of effort into how he was going to display.
2.) Pancham's little clear stand. While not as bad as Emboar's, it still blows in that he is so small that getting him to prop up on that stand can be a huge pain. This is why I wish they would go back to using pegs because of how much harder it is to mess with the stands.

Still, this isn't a terrible figure. I have to give props where it is deserved. The base is beautiful and I am so glad they did away with the ugly purple that the Generation V
Pokémon were cursed with. The paint job is also really good.

Picture
Pancham Pokémon Center Ear Jack Strap

I knew they were going to release these straps for the Generation VI Pokémon. The starters were a given, but I also had a feeling Pancham would get one, and I was right! Here he is trying to be intimidating but he's not doing a very good job. I want to pet him!

Picture
Pancham Tomy Figure

A must have for you panda collectors out there! The little stand he's one is there to balance him and give him that really cool pose. I can dig it! Also, look at his little feet pad! I really love it when they add their paws on these figures! It gives them a more fleshed-out, realistic look! Wonderful!

Picture
Pancham Kid

Pancham's first Kid! Who could be intimidated by that face? Now I want to pet him some more!

Picture
Pancham Attack Kid

His face is like "Are you looking at me, punk?"

Sorry, Pancham. You still cannot pull off the tough guy look, try as you might. Now I just want to take you home with me and baby you some more.

Picture
Pancham Tomy Battle Action Figure

A gift from syminka, this figure came paired with Meowth part of the Battle Action series. He's very well made and I love the stand he comes on.

From here, he looks like a little kid wanting to pick a fight. You can't hate those cute looks.

Picture
Yellow Pancham Eraser

Another one of those great erasers sold to me by syminka!

Picture
Pangoro Tomy Figure

Tomy never ceases to amaze me. Well, they almost did with the disasters that were the Generation V Zukans, but now's not the time for that! Now is the time to talk about this stunning Pangoro figure. I got this thing off of Hobby Link Japan and boy, oh boy, am I glad to own him! They captured the fierceness of this beast very well! He is no cuddly panda!

Picture
Pangoro Kid

Now this big brute... he is someone I wouldn't want to mess with! Though from what I saw in the anime, he is more of a big brute with a heart of gold than anything. What a lovable guy!

Picture
Pancham Pokémon With You Badge

This was a surprise, and a pleasant one at that! Pokémon With You badges made a return featuring a few of the X and Y Pokémon! I hope this is a mainstay promotion like Pokémon Time! I love this promotion!

Picture
Pancham, Chespin, and Flabébé X and Y Charms

Froakie and Fennekin also had charm sets that had two different Pokémon to go along with them. I got this one for one obvious reason! I am glad Pancham got paired with Chespin since he was my starter in the game. Say what you want about Chesnaught. I think he looks really cool, but I doubt I will be collecting him.

Picture
Serena's Pancham Gold Charm

You can tell it's Serena's Pancham because of the sunglasses. Purchased during her excursion to Japan, syminka had bought with this the intention of selling it through her sales post. I asked if I could purchase it beforehand and of course she obliged!

Very adorable charm. I guess you can say it has...

*Puts on sunglasses*

...a lot of charm! Okay, I'll see myself out.

Picture
Pancham Silver Coin

This coin is silver and features the amazing Pancham!

Pokémon Center Promotions

Picture
Pancham Tokyo Bay Pokémon Center Grand Opening Clearfile

This promotion was made to mark the grand opening of the Pokémon Center in the Tokyo Bay area. What better way to commemorate the event with adorable X and Y Pokémon! Pancham is featured on the artwork, so I am looking to get a lot from this promotion!

No promotion is complete without those fantastic clearfiles that I love oh-so much!

Picture
Pancham Tokyo Bay Pokémon Center Grand Opening Sketchbook

A sketchbook that will never to see the tip of a pencil touch its blank, white pages. This sketchbook got slightly bent on its transit to my house, but it is nothing a heavy book can't fix!

Picture
Pancham Tokyo Bay Pokémon Center Grand Opening Ruler

A cute little ruler.

Picture
Pancham Tokyo Bay Pokémon Center Grand Opening Pen

A pen with the adorable artwork on it.

Okay, I know I have made fun of these types of pens in the past, especially in regards to the one released during the Charizard 2013 promotion. Well, it's true, you know. These pens do, in fact, run out of ink very fast to make up for the amount of colors it has. Am I biased towards this particular pen as it is not part of the Charizard 2013 promotion? Probably.

Picture
Pancham Tokyo Station Pokémon Center

This was made as part of the grande opening for the
Pokémon Center at Tokyo Station. From what I heard, it's not really a Pokémon Center but a Pokémon store placed at the Tokyo train station for optimum convenience for those who love Pokémon. That's pretty sweet!

A postcard also exists with this same artwork! I'd like to get my hands on that, as well!

Picture
Litleo and Pancham Pokémon Center Handkerchief

Cuteness abound! I love this handkerchief! It has two of my favorite X and Y Pokémon on it! If only it had the adorable Bunnelby! That would have been perfect, but this hanky is still too nice for words!

Picture
Pancham, Pangoro, Litleo, and Bunnelby 2014 New Year Clearfile

This is actually a set of clearfiles featuring all three of the 2014 New Year postcard images. The set will not be broken. I am just going to show this image, though, as it is the one that has all the Pokémon I collect.

Picture
Gogoat and Pangoro Ensky Magnet

I hate you, Ensky! Yet I love you, too! More of their fabulous yet stupidly hard to get, blind-boxed magnets.

They make me so mad with how evil they can be, but once I get my hands on a hard-to-get item, I easily forgive them. Hey, don't blame me for being fickle! You'd be hard pressed not to feel the same way if you had to deal with the way they distribute their items!
